I am a master of the old style of Feng Shui. My training did not arise
from book learning. It grew out of manipulating space to create love,
radiance and power in the lives of my children.
In l963, I started
working with chi (the Chinese word for energy) consciously after my first
child was born and I saw how radiant he was. I saw his energy, I actually
perceived it; and I could see when it collapsed and I could see when it
was full and bright. I began manipulating things in the environment that
would cause his chi to stay radiant. This was my first education in chi
and Feng Shui, though the effort to practice Feng Shui was not conscious.
My only goal was to create happiness in my child. (My daughter, Jeanette
Maguire, who later apprenticed under me, often says that I stumbled
into Feng Shui.)
I continued to experiment
with keeping the chi bright and vibrant with all four of my children
as they were growing up. During this time, I also began teaching piano,
using the same observation skills with my students I was using with my
children. (My son, Carl Maguire, is a professional musician in NYC). In1983
I read the first Feng Shui book published in the U.S., Feng Shui: The
Chinese Art of Placement by Sarah Rossbach. It was then that I realized
that what I was doing had a name, and it was, in fact, a very old art.
For over 40 years,
I have been watching and learning what moves people’s chi and I
have been practicing Feng Shui for more than 20 of those years. I feel
constantly renewed and energized by the realization that working with
chi in personal environmments creates a ripple effect that goes out in
concentric rings, out into the world, where it affects everything. Today,
I travel internationally, teaching, lecturing, and practicing Feng Shui.
And I love it!
